Meet the Office – Senior Helpers of Mesa

At Senior Helpers of Mesa, we provide compassionate, non-medical home care to help seniors live safely and comfortably where they want to be—at home. Whether your loved one needs companionship, help with daily activities, or specialized dementia care, our trained caregivers offer personalized support that brings peace of mind to families throughout Mesa and the East Valley.

Trusted Senior Care in Mesa Since 2020

Senior Helpers of Mesa proudly opened its doors in 2020, led by Shaun and Tiffany Phelan, long-time owners of the award-winning Senior Helpers location in Scottsdale since 2007. As Mesa residents living in Las Sendas, Shaun and Tiffany are deeply connected to the local community and passionate about helping families find quality, compassionate care for their aging loved ones. Expanding into Mesa allows us to provide reliable in-home senior care to more families in the East Valley, ensuring every parent, grandparent, or loved one receives the personalized support they deserve.

Why We Started

Shaun was inspired to start Senior Helpers after personally experiencing the struggles many families face when caring for an elderly parent or grandparent at home. Watching his own family navigate the challenges of caring for his grandfather, he saw how important it is for seniors to have trusted caregivers they can connect with, rather than feeling like they are cared for by strangers. This vision—to provide personalized, non-medical home care services that make seniors feel safe, valued, and understood—has shaped our mission from the very beginning.

Tiffany’s Story

Tiffany’s journey into senior care began when her grandmother became the primary caregiver for her grandfather, who was living with Huntington’s Disease. Finding caregivers experienced in rare and neurodegenerative conditions was nearly impossible, leaving her family without the support they desperately needed. This personal experience fueled Tiffany’s passion to ensure that families in the Valley—especially those dealing with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, dementia, or other specialized care needs—can find skilled, compassionate in-home caregivers who truly understand their situation.

Our Commitment to Mesa Families

At Senior Helpers of Mesa, we share the nationwide Senior Helpers commitment to dependable, affordable in-home senior care delivered by highly trained caregivers. We believe our calling is to help seniors remain safe at home, maintain their dignity, and live a more fulfilling life—while giving families peace of mind knowing their loved ones are in caring hands.

Our Experience & Impact

Over the years, our team has proudly served thousands of seniors throughout Mesa, Scottsdale, and the greater East Valley. Our dedication to compassionate senior home care has earned us the trust of families looking for everything from a few hours of companionship to 24/7 care. We are honored to be part of so many families’ stories and remain committed to delivering care that truly makes a difference.

Education as Our Foundation

We believe the best care starts with the best training. That’s why we prioritize ongoing education for both our professional caregivers and the families we support. Whether it’s learning new techniques for dementia care or understanding the emotional needs of aging adults, our team is always growing so we can offer the highest standard of in-home senior care in Mesa.

Recognized for Excellence

From 2019 through 2024, Senior Helpers was proudly recognized by Fortune Magazine as a “Great Place to Work” and a “Best Place to Work in Aging Care Services,” based on feedback from our own employees. These honors reflect the dedication of our caregivers and our commitment to fostering a supportive environment where compassion, respect, and excellence guide everything we do.

Meet the Mesa Team

Shaun Phelan

Shaun Phelan

Owner & CFO, Senior Helpers of Mesa

Shaun Phelan is the Owner and Chief Financial Officer of Senior Helpers of Mesa, where he combines business expertise with a passion for helping families care for their aging loved ones. His journey into senior care began when he helped his mother care for his ailing grandfather during his final days. While watching his mother provide loving, hands-on care, Shaun also saw the physical and emotional toll it placed on her.

When Shaun learned about the availability of professional in-home senior care services, he immediately recognized the potential to relieve that burden for other families. This realization inspired him to open Senior Helpers and bring dependable, non-medical home care to Mesa and the surrounding East Valley.

As CFO, Shaun ensures that every decision—whether it’s about caregiver training, client services, or community outreach—supports the company’s mission to provide personalized, compassionate care that allows seniors to remain safe, comfortable, and independent at home. His leadership reflects his belief that the right care can not only improve a senior’s quality of life but also give families the peace of mind they deserve.

Tiffany Phelan

Owner, Senior Helpers of Mesa

As co-owner of Senior Helpers of Mesa, Tiffany Phelan partners with her husband, Shaun, to deliver compassionate, high-quality in-home senior care to families throughout the Mesa community. With 20 years of experience in the home care industry, Tiffany has dedicated her career to supporting families as they navigate the emotional and practical challenges of caring for aging loved ones. She has a special passion for ensuring seniors can live safely and comfortably at home with dignity, respect, and meaningful companionship.

Helping families find the best possible non-medical home care remains the most rewarding work Tiffany has ever done—second only to raising her three daughters. Her own family’s experience deepened her commitment to this mission: her mother, Rachel, was a Senior Helpers client for more than six years before passing away in 2023, and Tiffany witnessed first-hand the profound difference compassionate caregivers can make in a senior’s quality of life.

Outside of work, Tiffany enjoys a vibrant and creative life. She spends much of her time cheering on her daughters as they compete in Ninja Warrior events and expresses her own creativity through painting and playing guitar. Whether in her personal life or professional role, Tiffany is guided by a deep belief that care, connection, and kindness have the power to transform lives.

I want to take this opportunity to express our thanks for the superb work Diane did for Dad while he was in the hospital. She was punctual, personable, and dedicated. She helped my Dad immensely during a difficult time for him. Her calm manner and brilliant smile worked magic. My Dad’s attitude changed completely for the better after her first visit. Thank you so much for giving us Diane. She really is a remarkable person and very caring.
